Jim grew up in Drimnagh, Dublin in the 40s and 50s and made his stage debut at The Olympia Theatre, Dublin in Illsley and McCabeʼs production of The Remarkable Mr. Pennycracker alongside Gay Byrne and Larry Gogan. Byrne and Gogan went on to become iconic T.V. and radio Irish broadcasters while Bartley has had an acting career that has spanned over 7 decades. He began his T.V. career in 1964 playing Sean Nolan in Tolka Row which ran until 1968. This led to acting parts in Z Cars, Coronation Street, The Bill and The Irish R.M. Jim has played the character Bella Doyle for over 30 years in the Irish soap opera Fair City and has been in films such as The Fantasist, The Pink Panther Strikes Again, Taffin and War of The Buttons. There are many shades to his illustrious career and in this Podacast we talk about life growing up in Dublin as well as the beginnings of Jim's career.
