Practical Ways to Build Self-Esteem and Boost Your Confidence

The Confidence Coach: Building Self-Esteem and Self-Belief - En podcast af Quiet. Please

Welcome to The Confidence Coach, I’m Kai, and today we’re diving into practical ways to build your self-esteem and self-belief—key ingredients for personal growth and fulfillment.Let’s start by understanding confidence. It isn’t an innate trait reserved for a lucky few; it’s a set of habits and beliefs anyone can nurture. Self-esteem grows when we consistently recognize our strengths and work through our doubts. Confidence is the result of acknowledging small wins, learning from setbacks, and taking intentional steps forward, even when that inner critic pipes up.A proven coaching method I use is the GROW model: Goal, Reality, Options, Way forward. Picture your ideal future self. What do you want to achieve—personally or professionally? Then, take stock of your reality: What’s working for you right now, and where do you feel held back? List your options—what actions or changes could help? Finally, decide on your way forward. Break it down into the smallest next step, so it feels manageable and less intimidating. Many times, we struggle with confidence because we focus on our flaws. A powerful exercise is to build your “confidence wall.” Start by writing down your values—what truly matters to you. Think about your skills and attributes: What do people often compliment you on? Include tangible achievements—awards, skills you’ve learned, or projects you’ve completed. Add intangible achievements too, like overcoming a fear, or moments of kindness. This evolving list helps you see the positive traits and milestones you already possess. But mindset is only part of the equation. Simple physical cues can signal self-assurance to yourself and others: Practice good posture, maintain eye contact, and don’t underestimate the power of a genuine smile. These actions can help shift your internal state and how others perceive you.Pay attention to your self-talk—the way you speak to yourself matters. Swap statements like “I’ll never get this right” for “I’m learning and improving.” Challenge negative beliefs by looking for evidence to the contrary. Remember, each step forward—no matter how small—deserves to be celebrated.Lastly, set clear, achievable goals, and keep yourself accountable. Periodically review your progress and adjust as needed. Developing confidence is a journey, not a destination—it’s about progress, not perfection.Thank you for joining me on The Confidence Coach: Building Self-Esteem and Self-Belief.
