The Spirit of Market Anarchy: A Critique of New Atheism's Secular Statism (Parts 7 & 8) w/ Appendix Part 7: "The New Socratics: Is it the 'Islam' or 'fascism' in Islamo-Fascism that Requires Correction? In Part 7, we briefly examine the failure of U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East. Naive belief in the benevolence of democracy and democratic governments has led the United States into disaster in a region of the world where "Failed States" are everywhere a relic of a cultural legacy of theocracy, radicalism, religiosity, dictatorships, anti-economic illogic, and imperial overrule from foreign imperators. Why is it that the social engineers fail to apply economic logic to the Middle East as Western governments attempt to "bring democracy" by militarism in a place where functioning markets are barely recognizable? In short: because they do not apply that logic at home. In order to protect property, there must first be respect for property. And in order to establish governments capable of recognizing property rights, there must first be a means of obtaining and trading property above a certain level of scarcity, so as to alleviate the immanence of scarcity and dearth. And in order for there to be a means of rational economic calculation, there must be sound money. Democratic governments try to engineer markets, which means, simply, that Democratic governments utilize anti-economic illogic, codified into a missionary ethic. They hold themselves up as models, yet the model they present is not a model worthy of replication----not yet, anyways. So how will imperial democracies with socialistic disrespect for property rights both at home and abroad, whose unsound currencies are destroying the Middle East, create something that is NOT a reflection of their own values? They can't, and they won't. PART 8: "Spontaneous Order: The Hayekian Solution to the Ideological Problem" So how can liberty flourish? Secular Statists assume, and assume too quickly, that America is free. They wish to destroy the market, destroy market prices, institute welfare, increase taxes, and capture all profits by "closing loopholes." The religious market remains the one challenge to the secular statist's agenda. It is the God Loophole. If, by now, you are still committed to closing the God Loophole, I do not know what to say, except that the preceding segments have failed. Liberty, security, and flourishing can only be achieved by CREATING more loopholes and repealing State expropriations/regulations. The same utopian irrationalists, who advocate anti-economic illogic codified into an ethical system, wish to spread the anti-economic illogic abroad into a universalized religion of statism. This is an intellectual failure, and one that is driven by the recognition that, yes, humans must rearrange Nature in order to make it habitable. So, why wouldn't a grand Plan for order be the natural solution? Economic provides that answer: Diversity secures liberty and plenty, and property rights secure the safety of diversity. And in order for these goods to secure human flourishing, we must accept the proposition that anarchy (the beheading of tyrannical orders) is required in the economic sector. It is not that there is no plan, and that anarchy is chaos. Market Anarchy diversifies the plan. It divides it amongst six billion people, instead of embodying that plan in a small group of oligarchs. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/culture-anarchy/support
