I so hope that everyone had a warm and happy Thanksgiving! As is my wont around the holidays, this week I'm posting an acoustic set, one of the most famous of those, this comes to us from the Milkweg in Amsterdam on Bobby's birthday, October 16th, 1981. From all reports a very impromptu appearance, the boys play on borrowed instruments, yet the boys put out a very fun and engaging performance. While we will listen to the electric set next week, I believe the acoustic set fits perfectly for your holiday weekend enjoyment....   Grateful Dead Melkweg Amsterdam, Netherlands 10/16/81 - Friday   One On The Road Again [3:20] ; Dire Wolf [3:27] ; Monkey And The Engineer [2:34] ; Bird Song [9:32] ; Cassidy [5:06] ; Oh Babe It Ain't No Lie [6:03]; The Race Is On [3:12] ; Ripple [4:27]   My thanks to Rafael for his request of this gem, which frankly I'm surprised I've never featured before...   You can listen to this week's Deadpod here: http://traffic.libsyn.com/deadshow/deadpod112715.mp3   But wait there's more...   Rhino Records and GDP did come through with a few copies of the brand new release celebrating the Fare Thee Well shows of last July, The Best of Fare Thee Well, which is a 2 cd compilation of highlights from the shows in Chicago. I've also received one copy of the final show on July 5th... You can read all about these fine releases, and order your own copies here. You may as well take a shot at winning a copy by sending me an email :) my email address for the purpose of this contest is:   [email protected]   Only entries received there will be eligible to win the CDs. You don't have to donate to the Deadpod to be eligible to win, If you do you only earn karma points :)   Finally its most appropriate to thank each of you for listening to the Deadpod each week, for sending me such kind words and in general, making it a joy and privilege to produce this show each week. It is a blessing to be able to share the love present in these songs and have a bit of it reflect back to me.
