In this podcast, we have an important conversation with Dr. Keffrelyn Brown, a Distinguished Professor at University of Texas at Austin, who shares her research on how race-based knowledge plays a role in how K12 teachers develop and implement curriculum. We also discuss black intellectual thought, racial representations, the “at risk” label, critical conversations around curriculum and curriculum studies, and critical (race) theory in education. Brown (Ph.D., University of Wisconsin-Madison) is a Distinguished Professor of Cultural Studies in Education in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Texas-Austin. She holds a faculty appointment in the Department of African and African Diaspora Studies, the John L. Warfield Center for African and African American Studies and the Center for Women and Gender Studies.
