Show Summary: Why Women Need Men Where was this first seen in the Bible? Think Eve in the garden, encouraging her husband to eat the apple. She took on the role of the leader. “Then he said to the woman, “I will sharpen the pain of your pregnancy, and in pain you will give birth. And you will desire to control your husband, but he will rule over you. ” Genesis 3:16 1. What is the mans role in the Bible? God created man first then the woman from man. “Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” Genesis 2:18 NLT The mans position is over his wife and under Christ. Man is the protector & provider Man is called to be the leader of his household The man leaves his parents and is joined to his wife, the two become one. (Genesis 2:24) “But there is one thing I want you to know: The head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.” 1 Corinthians 11:3 NLT 2. What is the women’s role in the Bible? “Man was not made from woman. Woman was made from man, and man was not made for woman. Woman was made for man.” 1 Corinthians 11: 8-9 The women is the helper Child barrier Women need to accept the authority of the man (in the context of marriage). Women are not called to submit to any random man - they are called to submit to their husband’s authority. “Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib, and he brought her to the man.” Genesis 2:22 NLT 3. Men and women are both created in the image of God. Our position is dominion over ALL creation. Men and women are equal partners in marriage (1 Peter 3:7) Both possess equal value and dignity as divine image-bearers Male and female share equally in the assignment to rule over God’s creation. God commands male and female to “be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it” (Gen 1:28) Excerpt from the gospel coalition: Even though God’s good design in creation may be marred by the Fall and by sin, God’s good design is not erased by the Fall and by sin. As the apostle Paul writes, “For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer” (1Tim 4:4–5). Adam and Eve are indeed paradigms of difference even after the Fall, and those complementary differences have been pronounced “good” by God, and they are still good today. 4. How has modern feminism skewed God’s original design? Demonizing men (hating patriarchy) Encouraging women to “be like men” (a push for pursuit of high ranking job positions, high incomes) Encouraging promiscuity, abortion, overall sexual sin (my body, my choice) Pushing gay/lesbian/trans agenda Viewing women as the leader versus submissive to her husband. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thefreedompodcast/support
