CTM 2019: Failing at matriarchy with Nguyễn + Transitory

Every year Berlin’s foremost “petri dish” of contemporary electronic, digital and experimental music takes place at the CTM festival. This year CTM celebrated its 20th anniversary, exploring the theme of “Persistence” with a jam-packed 10-day program of concerts, club nights and performances. One of the artist at this year’s festival was the duo Nguyễn + Transitory composed of Baly Nguyễn and Tara Transitory, whose work crosses disciplines of sound, performance, and installation. Together, the two explore themes such as vulnerability, interdependence and intimacy, both in their artistic practices as well as in the everyday. This year at CTM they presented their immersive site-specific installation sound performance, Bird Bird, Touch Touch, Sing Sing, at HAU Berlin. Our talk gives a glimpse of their comprehensive practice and touches on the practice of failing at the impossible.
