Rafael Reina - South Indian Rhythms for Western Music

This episode is a journey through unusual rhythmic landscapes. Rafael Reina studied extensively the theory of South Indian Karnatic music and with this knowledge he developed the program "Contemporary Music through Non-Western Techniques", which he teaches at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. He also composed three operas which have an intriguing rhythmic blueprint - contemporary music with the sensuality and driving power of rhythm.
