Ryan Gable will talk with Cohost Hope about "Wasting Away from Food Vanity"... As with most issues, the subject of food has been made oddly political. It's often thought that blues care about the environment and reds do not. But consider that incoming blue President-elect Joe Biden has once again demonstrated that political parties have nothing to do with environmental issues, as he appointed the pro-big business and biotech man, Tom Vilsack, back to the USDA. Current red President Trump, however, pulled the US out of the Climate agreement in Paris, despite oil companies fighting to remain a member. Beyond politics, we find that the source of our problem is not overpopulation, food scarcity or even large corporations; our issues are overcrowding, food distribution flaws and the lack of personal responsibility that therefore incentives corporations to maintain production of excess. The average percentage of wasted food in the United States and around the world is estimated between 25-40% by weight, not to mention the wasted resources or farm waste. Much of this waste is a result of food not fitting some arbitrary standards of acceptability.
