The Secret Teachings 2/2/21 - Imbolcing to Maintain the Flame

All things in the natural world are pulling us towards life as much as they are towards death. This cyclical process results in constant renewal of life. The goddess and her symbols are an embodiment of these facts. Imbolc marks the beginning of February, a month of ritual cleansing, and the mid-point between the winter solstice and spring equinox. When we examine nature through the lens of myth and science we find that life not only finds a way to grow, but thrive in harsh conditions everywhere; we find that animals are far more conscious than first considered and that some creatures are so biologically advanced they seem to have originated on some distant planet. With Imbolc comes the renewal of the sun and the start of its yearly journey around the wheel. Magic is man's attempt to draw the powers of these divine things to his favor, so that with the use of certain of his tools may be warded off evil, cold, and darkness.
