There is a schism between the views of paganism and witchcraft, and their extremes, and modern techno-witches, which many argue have defiled the art and trivialized it. Many witches believe that a crystal and a prayer makes them a witch, and maybe it does, but when your goal is white light and love, but your movement is about profaning the sacred then, you honor only the false light and the opposite of love. Much of the horrible history of witchcraft was the result of accusers fabricating events like black masses to obtain public support in a mass outcry against witches, or by witches themselves slipping into hypnotic trance-induced states and imaging communion with devils. Either way, the root of witchcraft has been lost along the way and while modern witches maintain their privacy in secret, mostly, techo-witches, the children of the defiler of the sacred, Valac, brag and boast about their powers and how they wish to destroy in the name of preservation. Suffice to say this is dark magic at its most blatant.
