How do you get yourself out there into the wild world of art? That's the topic of conversation on Thriving Women Artists this week. Join Ping, Sarah, and Dorien in the second of three podcasts designed to help you get started as an artist. This episode is all about portfolios. How do you make them? Where you put them? And who do you show them to? KEY TAKEAWAYSIt can be very scary to put your art out there, but there's no set timeline on when you should show off your portfolio. Some people will take a year to build up their portfolio, whereas others like to show their process and progress by sharing things as they're completed. You can treat your Instagram as a playground or as a gallery. What field do you want to work in? Do you want to be a children's illustrator, or graphic designer, or make graphic novels. Do research into your passion and tailor your portfolio towards those needs. Your portfolio should be work that you really loved making. If you have old things in there that you don't enjoy making anymore, remove them. What if a publisher asked you to make something in a style you no longer like working in.   BEST MOMENTS‘Sometimes you need to ignore your inner critic'‘People should understand your work without you standing next to it telling them about it' VALUABLE RESOURCES http://dribble.com/https://www.behance.net/https://www.scbwi.org/MA Children's Book Illustration https://aru.ac.uk/study/postgraduate/childrens-book-illustration ABOUT THE PODCAST A serious and fun podcast for female creatives hosted by Ping, Dorien and Sarah, three happy artists from Amsterdam.  This podcast will inspire you to make a living out of your art.
