Episode X: Stand

TOKYO JAZZ JOINTS - En podcast af Philip Arneill & James Catchpole

Kategorier:

We are taking a break from normal transmission this week. After a tumultuous 7 days worldwide, we believe that there are more important conversations to be had than ours. Jazz is often described as the 'true American art form', but jazz is black music. To help understand the racist oppression that persists in both America and around the world in various guises, it is as essential to understand the history of jazz, as it is to simply love its music or celebrate its culture. Jazz is a music of expression and freedom: we stand in solidarity with the anti-racist struggle around the world. You can access a list of anti-racist educational resources at www.tokyojazzjoints.com/stand and we ask that you use the time you would have spent listening to this episode of the podcast to have a look at some of them instead. We are all complicit, and we are all responsible for effecting change. See you all next week for Episode 11.
