60. You do not need "The Answer"

I know you want The Answer. And THAT is the problem. There was a time when I was desperately searching for someone who could give me “The Answer”. Just tell me exactly what to do because clearly, I thought I had no idea. But looking back, I had an idea that never left me alone. I was just terrified to try launching it because, what if it didn’t work!? Jumping into a launch felt really risky - because in my mind, if it didn’t work out it would serve as proof that I didn’t really have what it takes after all. And I was so terrified of it not working that I told myself for almost a year that I wasn’t ready yet - I needed to grow my audience first. It was a lot more comfortable for me to pretend I wasn’t ready and look for someone...anyone...to just tell me what the fuck I needed to do differently. “Tell me how to grow my audience.” “Tell me how to generate leads.” “Give me the answer.” What I know now is that I thought if someone else made the call for me and told me exactly what to do I would then have the confidence and motivation to move forward. I was telling myself the reason I wasn’t moving forward was because “I didn’t know what to do” but the reality is that my lack of confidence was leading me to ignore everything I already knew. I was ignoring it because it was scary and uncomfortable. And I thought someone else would be able to make growth feel comfortable for me. I know it feels like you need someone to just tell you what to do. But then what? What next? Who makes the next call if not you? You’re the one running the fucking show. And I promise you, you are ready for wayyyyyyy more than you think you are. But chasing everyone else’s “should”s is not the answer. Because building a business that allows you to be your fullest self is only possible if you trust your vision enough to leave their bullshit behind.
