In this community-focused episode, Carter speaks with Unsafe Space members Cheeky Mare and Lord Coley, and answers some questions from chat. Beforehand, however, he discusses Beyoncé's use of the word "spaz" in her new song, "Heated," and her acquiescence to an activist's demands to change the lyric. He then provides some background and an overview of a controversial case currently before the Supreme Court: Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard. This case alleges that Harvard's clear anti-Asian admissions policy is in violation of Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which prohibits institutions that receive federal funds from discriminating on the basis of race. As evidenced by their recent amicus brief, the ACLU remains adamantly in favor of the stodgy Ivy League school's racial discrimination. An overturning of precedent--which Carter anticipates--could have wide ramifications for many other colleges.
