Bukele, Bitcoin and El Salvador w/ Nelson Rauda

On June 5, El Salvador President Nayib Bukele declared that bitcoin would become legal tender in El Salvador. On September 7th of this year, that law came into effect. Fans of Bitcoin are split between those who see this as a huge win for a decentralized payment system and those who point to the tyrannical character that is Bukele and worry that this will do more harm than good. From my 6th floor podcast studio in Miami at the Oslo Freedom Forum I had the opportunity to speak to a journalist and El Salvador native on the full implications of the law and what it really means to the people of El Salvador and the Bitcoin movement. Please follow my guest Nelson Rauda on twitter (@raudaz_) and see all of his excellent work on elfaro.net (translation "the Lighthouse", a newspaper out of El Salvador). We discuss his article on the Bitcoin Party that took place shortly after the law was passed: https://elfaro.net/es/202109/el_salvador/25711/Los-evangelistas-del-bitcoin-bailan-conga-en-El-Salvador.htm We also discuss the work of Alex Gladstein, the organizer of the OFF and a HRF executive who stands in support of freedom everywhere and the fight against tyranny.
