Cadre is a noun that refers to a small group of people in a particular field. The latin word quadrus (KWAD roos) refers to a ‘square.’ The meaning of the word shifted over to time to mean ‘a small group of specialized people.’ If it weren’t for a cadre of skilled scientists, our country would have been doomed in the early 20th century. Sometimes all it takes a tiny group to save us all.
