Series 8, Episode 1: Gaming, Esports, & WWE with Arda Öcal

In this episode of Your Potential for Everything, host Alex brings on Arda Öcal, the voice of the NHL Gaming World Championships. Arda talks about his journey into the world of Gaming & Esports and his time at the WWE. We discuss his unique entry into broadcasting through the WWE and how he got to use his love of Gaming & Esports at ESPN. Arda has been a “first” in many spaces and has used his background as the son of immigrant Muslim parents from Turkey as a way to show others that they belong in this space too. In order to get into the world of broadcasting, he was required by the WWE to change his name and work with a dialect coach. Arda understands that his uniqueness is what makes him special and he doesn’t want to blend into the crowd. He is making waves in the Gaming & Esports industry and hopes to inspires others to do the same.
