87 The Year Menopause Went Mainstream

On 17th December we had a lovely afternoon tea party for my mums 70th Birthday.  All of her 70 something friends were there.  We got talking about menopause (obviously) but one lady said "in my day we didn't talk about it, we just got on with it." I flinched but I was grateful for her comment (even though I could sense she thought I was being too open) because it made me realise how far we'd come.  2021 was the year that menopause went mainstream, thanks to celebrities like Davina Macoll, Liz Earl, Meg Matthews and Zoe Ball who are using their reach for something other than personal gain.  As we come up to the final days of 2021, I wanted to reflect on what we'd learnt and what might change in 2022 in the menopause world. In this episode I offer you some of those reflections. We touch on:🤓 What is happening to the stigma around menopause🤓 Why Generation X are noisy about menopause🤓 Why we might need to be careful of the menopause product boom🤓 All the good things that happened for menopausal people in 2021🤓 How we can continue to get our needs met in 2022🤓 What will your 'value word' be for 2022So if you're interested in 'how to menopause in 2022' then this episode is for you.Links:Well and GoodCrunchbaseBMS - Call For EvidenceThe Labour ListWomen's Health Strategy QuestionsBMS - World Menopause Day 2021Emma Bardwell's Post on how to get the most from your doctors appointmentSally's Links:Website InstagramFacebookSupport the show
